“The Gibson” at 14th & U Streets harkens back to a time when televisions in bars did not exist. A time when it was illegal to drink in the U.S. A time when people retreated to a hidden bar for fear of being arrested. Reservations MUST be made in advance and don’t expect any signage over thee door. A simple doorbell and tag let you know that you have arrived. The effect that the atmosphere at The Gibson has on a visitor allows for a temporary (2-hour reservations only) escape from crowds and the noisy city streets. The Gibson allows only enough people in the establishment as their are seats. Reservations are for 2-4 people. Intimate booths for 2 line the opposite side of the bar. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable – true mixologists, if you will. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. The drinks are delicious and expensive. “The Gibson” Effect is certainly well worth it.
