Lady Gaga - The Lady Reigns Supreme from DC StyleSpot on Vimeo.

Lady Gaga hosted fans at Constitution Hall on Tuesday night to a Fame Ball that will not soon be forgotten. Her last show of her Fame Tour was long overdue in Washington, as her earlier scheduled performance at the 9:30 Club was suddenly canceled. Lady Gaga paid her fans back in spades, showing us what she's got. What she's got is pipes, musical talent and a penchant for theatrics. The necessary ingredients for extremely entertaining bubble-punk pop. With her unabashed spirit guiding her across the stage, Lady Gaga flexes her vocal chords and her glutes. While the show was too short (1 hour), it was pure bliss as the Lady ripped through her hits off of her debut album "The Fame." What Lady Gaga has managed to due in two short years is to put Christina and Britney on watch. Long live Queen M, but this Lady is ready to take the throne. Words aren't enough, check out the video for highlights.

Pet Shop Boys: Creative Expression from DC StyleSpot on Vimeo.

The Pet Shop Boys turned Constitution Hall into a good old-fashioned discoteque last night. Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant perform a mix of old and new anthems that would satisfy any PSB fan ("West End Girls," "Love, etc.", "It's a Sin," "Suburbia" "New York City Boy"). They also concocted a beautiful and stunning stage presence utilizing painted white boxes that were constantly being rearranged, constructed and deconstructed by a group of stage hands dressed like Purdue factory workers. The group was also accompanied by performers on stage (mostly wearing colored boxes on their heads) that interpreted the song lyrics through dance - adding an incredible and stunning visual effect. One particular highlight of the show was when the group sang a beautiful mash-up of "Domino Dancing" and Coldplay's "Via La Vida." The crowd went crazy. The Pet Shop Boys close-out summer on positive note. Thanks guys.

The B-52's at Wolf Trap: Cosmic Jam from DC StyleSpot on Vimeo.

There is no other band like the B-52s. Unique in presentation, song style and diversity. The B-52s rocked Wolf Trap on Saturday night. The band played a nice mix of new material from their "Funplex" album and older hits. The highlights of the show were no doubt the highlights from yesteryear, including an encore comprised of "Planet Claire" and "Rock Lobster." The band sounded great. Watching Cindy Wilson, Kate Pierson, Fred Schneider and Keith Strickland do their thing on stage is exhilarating. Can anyone tell me the name of the dance that Cindy is doing in this video? Love it.

Highlights from the Bruce Springsteen Concert in DC from DC StyleSpot on Vimeo.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band showed the crowd at Verizon Center on Monday night what it was like to feel empowered through music. The band rocked the nation's capital with Bruce working the audience like a seasoned pro. Highlights included a rousing rendition of "Outlaw Pete" from the new album, "Working on a Dream." Mid-show, Bruce takes requests from the audience via posters that folks in the General Admission section bring to the show. One of the selections was "Out in the Street" - requested by a young girl that had the once-in-a-lifetime experience of singing it with her Boss on stage. One odd moment of the show involved Bruce dedicating a song to his wife Patti Scialfa because she is "nice." The one cold moment of the show. Check out highlights in the video. Come back Bruce!

DC StyleSpot Advertorial - Kendall's Cakes from DC StyleSpot on Vimeo.

DC StyleSpot had the pleasure of visiting with Kendall Barrett of Kendall's Cakes this morning. Kendall bakes and decorates the most gorgeous cakes that StyleSpot has come across in the Washington area. We sampled some vanilla cake that had hints of almond and vanilla - leaving the palette with the most exquisite finish. Another StyleSpot favorite was a chocolate frosting that was smooth, light and delicious. This chocolate-lover was in heaven. Kendall bakes for very special occasions - weddings, anniversaries, milestone birthdays. Weddings are her specialty - baking cakes, favors and even groom's cakes (gaining in popularity these days). Kendall's Cakes is the place where discerning brides will turn to - knowing that they can entrust Kendall to wow them and all of their guests on the special day.

DC StyleSpot recession helpers: Kendall's Cakes is kind enough to offer a 10% discount to new clients that mention seeing her story on DC StyleSpot.

DC StyleSpot Advertorial - The Gibson from DC StyleSpot on Vimeo.

"The Gibson" at 14th & U Streets harkens back to a time when televisions in bars did not exist. A time when it was illegal to drink in the U.S. A time when people retreated to a hidden bar for fear of being arrested. Reservations MUST be made in advance and don't expect any signage over thee door. A simple doorbell and tag let you know that you have arrived. The effect that the atmosphere at The Gibson has on a visitor allows for a temporary (2-hour reservations only) escape from crowds and the noisy city streets. The Gibson allows only enough people in the establishment as their are seats. Reservations are for 2-4 people. Intimate booths for 2 line the opposite side of the bar. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable - true mixologists, if you will. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. The drinks are delicious and expensive. "The Gibson" Effect is certainly well worth it.

"Curtain Call" - Kaveh Sardari from DC StyleSpot on Vimeo.

DC StyleSpot caught up with Sarah Watkins of Caramel on Friday night. Caramel was celebrating the opening of a new art exhibit at the U Street boutique. "Curtain Call" is an exhibit of photographs by Washington DC photographer, Kaveh Sardari. Sardari has traditionally focused his photography on the political arena, but now is branching out into the world of dance. The exhibit includes exquisite images of French and American dancers - with a focus on Flamenco dance. The colors in the photographs are bright and vibrant - a beautiful accent to Caramel's gorgeous Spring collection. The exhibit will remain up at Caramel through May.

DC StyleSpot Advertorial - Poste from DC StyleSpot on Vimeo.

Wow - talk about needing to do one's research! DC StyleSpot unknowingly dined on calf's head on Tuesday night at Poste, Moderne Brasserie. The "Téte De Veau" on the bar menu could have easily been described as beef sliders. My impression of the French Sliders at the time was that they were incredibly delicious and juicy. They were unexpected. And, rightfully so, for they are made from the muscle of a calf's head. Say that again? Well, I gotta say, sometimes it is better just not to know because I would definitely have them again! Only this time with a fine chianti.

Poste is a fabulous place to grab some appetizers and a glass of French wine before visiting any of the many attractions in the Penn Quarter, including events at the Verizon Center.

Spears' Circus More Sideshow than Ringmaster from DC StyleSpot on Vimeo.

No one could argue that there wasn't plenty of fan excitement and regalia at Britney Spears' "Circus" show on Tuesday night at the Verizon Center. However, the performance of the star did not seem to warrant the excitement of the crowd. Britney strutted around stage and was escorted by professional dancers to the various stage props on which she would regurgitate a quick dance move. When not strutting (ok...walking) across the stage to these props, Britney would hop on a moving circus-themed ride that would glide her across the stage. Ironically, this parading of the star back-and-forth on the stage truly did perpetuate the image of her life as circus sideshow.

Mid-show, Spears did seem to kick-it-up just a notch on the dancing front. But, it was too-little, too-late. Fans at the Verizon Center deserved more umph for their dollar from Spears. Spears covered most of her new hits from Blackout and Circus, but did little for the fans that were hoping for a hit from her school-girl days. While Britney can obviously sell some records and concert tickets (there was not a single available seat in the house), her vocals and music have been extremely over-produced and emotionally barren as of late. Spears should not negate the hits that got her here today - they are better pop songs and will always be her bread-and-butter. In the end, DC StyleSpot walks away wondering not "Was she singing?" nor "Was she dancing?" but rather, "Did she really want to be there at all?"
